Mahankaal Bhairav Guru

Shree Mahankaal or Mahankaa Dya is believed to be the main protector of Yen Dey and is called as Mahankaa Aaju too. The Mahankal established in Kathmandu is one of the main deity of Vajrayana Buddhism who is considered as the protector of every Mahavihara and often called as " BajraBir" but though is worshipped by Hindus too as fierce full manifestation of Lord Shiva. Mahankaal is called with different name such as Mahankaal, Bajrabir, Bajrasiddi, Tundi Bhairav, Bajra Bhairav, Bajra Tundi etc. The shrine of Mahankaal is located in Tinikhyo, and is specially worshipped for protection from evil spirits, getting out of obstacles and to bring fortunes in life. There are many folklores to explain about how the shrine was established. One of the popular and written story about the shrine of Mahankaal explains that one of the famous Tantrik of then Nepal, Shaswat Bajra was sitting in roof in sun during winter. Sitala Maaju

Sitala Maaju also known as Pyathoo Ajima is believed to be the form of Maa Harati. One can see Sitala Maaju carrying a child in her lap as same as Maa Harati carries. Both goddess are worshipped for the welfare and prosperity of children’s. Even both goddess are offered Kala Puja from devotees. They are considered as same form. When children’s get sick then devotees take puja to the temple of Maa believing that their children will recover soon. There is also a temple dedicated to Sitala Maaju inside the Bajalu Park. Every year in 22 Dhara mela the goddess is offered huge puja and many animals are sacrificed inside the temple for Maa. Hail to Sitala Maaju.    

Story of Maa Harati

Harati Ajima also known as Maa, Aji, Aji Maju resides in Gosringa Parbaat facing towards south. She is worshipped for wealth, prosperity and protection of children’s. Harati Ajima is believed to be a Yakshini who had 500 children. She used to kidnap and kill other children’s and feed her children’s. Slowly, the number of children in village (mentioned as Raajgriha) decreased and children started disappearing. Finally everyone went to Lord Buddha and prayed him. Through his Bodhisattva power he saw that a Yakshini named Harati was kidnapping all the children killing them and feeding to her children so Buddha thought of a trick. In absence of Harati, Buddha went and covered her favorite son Dhana Bhaju (Priyankar) with a rice bowl. When Harati returned she couldn’t find her son Dhana Bhaju there.
